During my recent trip to Vietnam, I had the pleasure of visiting Phu Quoc Island, in the southern part of the country. The island is a great place to relax and boasts loads of luxury hotels, restaurants, activities, and more. Luckily, during my multiple weeks on the island, I got to experience many different parts of the island which started in the south and worked all the way up to the north. While exploring the northwest corner of the island, I had the pleasure of staying at the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay Hotel.

Location and Arrival
As mentioned, the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc is located in the upper northwest corner of the island. It is situated next to Grand World Phu Quoc, which is basically a modernly developed city. Grand World offers a variety of amenities including a theme park, beaches, restaurants, convenience stores, zoo, and a casino. Although the resort is near to this, it’s not part of the complex which is nice because it retains the calm island atmosphere. From my experience, it was nice to enjoy most of the time on the grounds of the Crowne Plaza but have the ability to step out from time to time to explore the conveniences of Grand World.
The lobby of the hotel is stunning and luxurious with its high ceilings and modern design. There are lots of comfortable seating options and attentive staff to make sure you have what you need.
Resort Features and Amenities
Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay is a true resort, offering everything you need for a fulfilling beach holiday. The resort provides a range of activities to keep you and your family occupied, including multiple pools, direct beach access, a small convenience store, fitness center, multiple restaurants, spa, and a game room. If you’re looking to simply relax at the beach or by the pool, and enjoy some peaceful downtime, this is the perfect place for you.
Pool Villa in Phu Quoc
For my three-night stay, I secured a luxury villa equipped with a private pool. These private beach villas are well-appointed and offer a very comfortable space. My villa featured a large living room and bedroom area, spread over multiple levels. It had a king-sized bed, a cozy seating area, tea and coffee-making facilities, a huge closet, and a spacious bathroom. I found the villa’s entire interior design to be very pleasing to the eyes as well as functional.
Stepping through the bedroom’s pocket door and you’ll step into the villa’s master bathroom. This was seriously a well designed space and featured a dual sink vanity, shower stall, toilet stall, standalone bathtub, as well as access to the outdoor private pool.
Of course, the focal point of the villa is the private pool. The pool is exclusively for the guests of the villa and comes with a daybed and lounge chairs nearby. However, the pool area is fairly close to other villas, so while it’s private, you might still be visible to other guests while swimming. Therefore, no swimming in the nude!
Food and Beverage
During my extended stay at the property, I had the chance to enjoy many items from the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc’s menu. They offer both Asian and international cuisine, and overall, I was satisfied with the food. Breakfast is served in a massive buffet format with loads of options. The service at the all day dining restaurant was both professional and welcoming. Even with all of the guests, we felt the service was friendly and personalized which was a great touch.
In addition to breakfast we also had a chance to try both lunch and dinner at the resort. While the items we tried were tasty, after a few days we did feel that the menu was slightly limited.
Spa Hoa Sim
During my stay at Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay I had the pleasure to experience their Spa Hoa Sim. Upon entering, I was immediately impressed with the modern design of the interior. I had experienced so many massages lately that I wanted something shorter so went for a 30 minute massage that focused on the upper back. This really did the trick! The therapists both did a great job and I felt mine could truly locate my tension and release it. After the treatment, we were left feeling great and proceeded to slip into the sauna that we also arranged. This was the perfect way to relax.
Conclusion
All in all, I had a lovely getaway at the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay Hotel in Vietnam. This modern resort property is an ideal destination if you’re interested in visiting this part of the island. The accommodations are comfortable, luxurious, and the friendly, attentive service made my stay even more enjoyable. Its convenient location next to Grand World is a plus as well, especially for families. In conclusion, the verdict is in and I can easily recommend a stay at the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay Hotel.
