From delicious food and cocktails, to relaxing spaces with chilled out tunes and perfect ocean views, these are the best beach clubs in Isla Holbox.
Isla Holbox is an island where anything goes. It feels wonderfully relaxed and carefree. It’s world’s away from the high rise resorts of Cancun’s Hotel Zone or the party scene in Tulum. Step out of your rustic beach bungalow, wander along the sand, enjoy a paddle, perhaps stop for some street tacos, and then bed in at a beach club. I mean, doesn’t that sound like the perfect day in paradise?
The Isla Holbox beach club scene has been developing over the last five or so years. Whereas there used to be a few hotels with seats out on the sand, these days pretty much every hotel has a beach club! Plus, there are some independent beach bars and restaurants too. Each beach club offers something a little different, although the main facts are the same: great drinks, food, beach access and paradise views!
Some have a bigger focus on their gastronomy, while others are better for party vibes or cocktail offers. Many are following the aesthetic trends you’ll see in Tulum or Bali, with natural furnishings and festoon lighting. Whatever you’re looking for, my guide to the best beach clubs in Isla Holbox should help you decide where to go!

13 Top-Rated Beach Clubs In Isla Holbox
Mojito’s Beach Club
Open from 11am – 6pm each day, this is a popular beach club in front of Ser Casasandra boutique hotel. This was one of my favourite spots on my last trip to the island and yes, I drank many mojitos there! In fact, there was a whole mojito menu to choose from!
Last time I checked there was a price per sunbed, plus a minimum spend from the bar/restaurant, but it’s worth checking on arrival.
You’ll find lots of classic dishes on the menu, from tacos and ceviche, to burgers. I really liked the vibe here, so if you can afford the day pass price, I’d recommend it.
Location: Mojito’s Beach Club, Av. Damero 310, 77310 Holbox, Q.R., Mexico
Mandarina Beach Club
If you’ve been researching accommodation, you might have come across Casa las Tortugas, one of the best hotels on Holbox island. Mandarina Beach Club is its classy beach club, located on the pristine sands in front of the hotel.
This is one of the most upmarket beach clubs in Isla Holbox. The luxury feel of the hotel flows out onto the beach and is apparent when you read the menu too. You’ll find a lot of classic dishes on the menu, but they’ve been reimagined in smarter, more photogenic ways.
At breakfast, tuck into colourful acai bowls, for lunch enjoy ceviche and tacos, then for dinner feast on the local catch of the day. Also, if you’re looking for a refreshing drink, don’t miss the delicious juices and smoothies here!
Location: Mandarina Beach Club, Av. Damero Manzana 24 Lote 3, Centro, 77310 Holbox
Capitán Capitán Beach Club
Looking for a lively, fun spot for an afternoon of drinks in the sunshine? Capitan is one of my top picks! This popular spot serves strong cocktails, tasty food and has a great happy hour with lots of drinks offers. There are sun loungers and tables, so you can either bed in for the afternoon, or stop off for a lazy lunch or sunset cocktail.
There’s often live music at this beach club too, making the atmosphere even more fun.
Location: Capitán Capitán Beach Club, 77310 Holbox
Las Nubes
Las Nubes de Holbox is a luxury hotel located at the far end of the beach. Because it’s away from other accommodation, it’s lovely and quiet. The beach club here is well worth a visit.
The hotel is one of the chicest on the island, and I can say the same about the beach club! Grab a sun lounger, order a bottle of your favourite tipple or a perfectly-mixed cocktail, enjoy a few snacks and relax under a shady palm while watching the waves wash in. Holidays don’t get much better!
I think you can still turn up and enjoy the experience, but they do also offer day passes which you can book in advance to secure your bed.
Location: Las Nubes de Holbox, C. P.º Kuka, 77310 Holbox
Chiringuito Zomay
Set in front of Zomay Hotel, Chiringuito is the perfect beach club in Isla Holbox if you’re looking for a place to relax, while enjoying great gastronomy.
The restaurant here is excellent, serving sushi, tacos and tasty items grilled on the parilla, such as octopus, shrimp and steak. There’s a variety of loungers, hammocks and chairs to choose from too, all with amazing ocean views.
Location: Chiringuito Zomay, Av. Pedro Joaquín Coldwell s/ número, 77310 Holbox
Punta Caliza Beach Club
This chic hotel has a very chilled and stylish beach club that’s open to the public. It’s a little out of the main buzz of the centre of the island, so is ideal if you’re looking for a more tranquil experience.
On the menu here you’ll find gourmet options including grilled octopus, fresh fish and handmade tacos. One of the top times to visit though, is for brunch. Punta Caliza puts on a huge spread of delicious, photogenic dishes.
Location: Punta Caliza Beach Club, Av. Damero, 77310 Holbox
Agua de Coco Beach Club
Head to the western part of the island and you’ll eventually get to Hotel Casa Punta Coco. This 7-room boutique hotel is stylish, with elegant eco-design touches.
In front of the hotel is this small and basic beach club, where you can order cocktail and plates of food. There are loungers too, but usually they are at an extra cost. This one doesn’t have some of the amenities of the others I’ve recommended, but it’s nice to stop off at for a little rest.
Location: Agua de Coco Beach Club, 77310, Punta Coco, 77310 Holbox
La Playa De Ñaña
I’m a big fan of a tiki bar, and this fun Holbox beach club has got all the fun tiki vibes right on the beach. The food here is exquisite too, with a huge emphasis on fresh seafood. Top dishes include octopus tiradito, lobster aguachile, coconut shrimp and fresh sushi.
If you’re staying near Holbox’s main square, this beach club is within a short stroll.
Location: Restaurante La Playa De Ñaña, Playa de, entre Av. Damero y C. Sierra, 77310 Holbox
Mawimbi Beach Club
Hotel Mawimbi is one of the top-rated boutique hotels in the centre of Holbox, so it’s no wonder they’ve also expanded out onto the sand to create a popular beach club. You’ll pay for your spot at this beach club (unless you’re a hotel guest) but it’s well worth it for access to great food and drink all day.
When I was last here, I had one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had in Mexico, so I’d say this is a pretty special spot!
Location: Mawimbi Beach Club, Av. Damero 1, Centro, 77310 Holbox
Carolinda Beach Club
This is a bit of a hidden gem in my opinion. It’s not in the main stretch of the beach, but it has a lovely vibe. Being out of the centre, it’s not loud or lively. It has a tranquil atmosphere, ideal for relaxing on a lounger with your favourite book and a cocktail.
The menu isn’t as fancy as some of the upmarket hotel beach clubs, but that’s also reflected in the prices. The tacos are excellent here, particularly the shrimp. Oh, and there are often really good drinks deals here, including 2 for 1 offers on selected cocktails.
Location: Carolinda Beach Club, C. Charal, 77310 Holbox, Q.R., Mexico
Serenity Beach Club
As mentioned, the majority of Isla Holbox’s beach clubs are linked to hotels. Serenity is the beach club in front of Holbox Dream Hotel. This is a popular location, just a few blocks from the main square and the famous Holbox letters.
They usually have a minimum spend per bed, which you’ll easily tot up with a few cocktails and some tasty snacks. The beach bowls are popular here, which are similar to a poke bowl. Alternatively, there’s a menu of pizzas, tacos and other favourites. This is one of the most family-friendly beach clubs in Isla Holbox. It even has a kids menu!
Location: Serenity Beach Club, Paseo Carey #2 con, C. Lisa, Centro, 77310 Holbox
MARUVA Restaurant & Beach Club
This small beach club is located towards the western end of the island. You’ll pay around 350 MXN for a day pass. The food and drink are of a high-quality, with lots of Mexican classics to choose from.
If you’re looking for a really busy, lively spot, this won’t be the right place for you. If you want to relax in peace with lots of tasty treats to choose from, it’s perfect.
Location: MARUVA Restaurant & Beach Club, C. Caguama entre zargo y charal, 77310 Holbox
Punta Coco Restaurant Bar
If you make it to Playa Punta Cocos, the westernmost beach on the island, then you’re in for a treat! This beach is spectacular, with its shallow water, pier and colourful hammocks. I’d recommend visiting at sunset for views like this.
Punta Coco Restaurant Bar is a great little spot tucked around this end of the island. The bar has its own hammocks and loungers, tasty food and cold drinks, as well as some of the best views on the island. The menu here isn’t the most exciting, with options of nachos, quesadillas and pasta, but I think you visit this spot more for a drink with a view!
This area of Isla Holbox doesn’t get the crowds of the central zone. It’s pretty far to walk, so you might want to hop in a golf cart if you’re not staying nearby.
Location: Punta Coco Restaurant Bar, 77310 Holbox
